Does NOT stay in Lorraine! We'll be honored to serve her bounty to you!
What's the best thing about Illinois-style Barbecue? Give up? Good. It's a trick question. There is no such thing as Illinois-style Barbecue! Don’t worry, this won’t be the last time you fall for one of my elaborate traps.
All jokes aside, we view our great state’s absence of “classic” barbecue history as a real asset and opportunity. Beef in North Carolina? Sauced meat in Texas? Both classified as treason in their respective states. We, as Illinoisans, are bound by no such rules.
At The Blue Duck, we've crafted a menu influenced not only by the best of America’s great barbecue regions, but also by techniques and spices from around the world. For example, we're borrowing flavors from our neighbors to the South for our pork shoulder marinated in a house chorizo blend to be featured in Mexican tacos and tortas, traditional Mexican street sandwiches. We will also be bringing a bit of the Far East to the Duck by lathering our brisket in an Asian soy-ginger-chile marinade called bulgogi to be featured in Korean tacos and Vietnamese-style sandwiches called banh mi. We aim to excite and satisfy with our daily menu, and we will be constantly experimenting behind the scenes to add specials and new menu items.
Now, we can't promise that we'll fit into the mold of a prototypical barbecue joint. What we can promise are consistently delicious and whimsical food offerings that we make from scratch every day. We sincerely care about serving our community with the best food we can prepare and won’t accept anything less. We hope you won’t either.
P.S. Barbecue is for lovers. Happy Valentine's Day!
