The Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern!

It seems fitting to introduce our new endeavor on the first day of the New Year. We're pleased to announce that we will be opening The Blue Duck in Spring of 2015.  

There are always a million choices to make when starting a new business (from the name to the napkins), but one detail was always a certainty.  We wanted our restaurant to be located in Peoria. Our love for this city can only be eclipsed by our love for good barbecue - so it was only natural to pair the two.  

We also knew that we wanted our restaurant to have a barbecue-centric menu.  There's a special "feeling" associated with barbecue.  Like going back to your locker in high school or seeing a picture of your first love.  It's nostalgia and comfort.  With this in mind, we're slow smoking our barbecue daily using local woods. (Our rather weighty smoker has been affectionately named Lorraine - pics soon! She's beautiful.)  Our menu will feature familiar barbecue flavors, but we're also including some new flavors based on our travels and food experiences - like soy, ginger, and chilis.  And because barbecue shouldn't be limited to slices or sammies - we're getting creative with tacos and barbecue bowls.  

This year is beginning with the bang of mixing bowls and hammers swinging - and we love it. As we continue to create The Blue Duck we have one thing in the back of our minds - we can't wait to serve you! Until then, eat heartily and best wishes for a wonderful New Year!
